Efforts at Reviving Redevelopment Continue

There is an ongoing global pandemic and the world is rightly focused on news related to COVID-19.  Given the circumstances, other news is slipping below the radar.  Something you may have missed is another effort to revive redevelopment in one form or another through Senate Bill 795.

City of San Jose, which analyzed an inclusionary housing ordinance and held that such ordinances do not qualify as "exactions" and, consequently, are reviewed under a deferential standard that looked at whether the ordinance was "reasonably related" to the city’s interest in promoting the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
